Layer 1 Blockchain Chromia Announces Incentivized Testing Program With 250,000 CHR Rewards

Chromia has announced a major testing program as it gears up for its mainnet launch. The initiative will allow developers and users to put the testnet through its paces and get a feel for the scalable L1 that’s designed to host high throughput dapps. A total of 250,000 CHR has been allocated for the program which will be awarded through a total of four separate initiatives.

The program that will appeal to retail users is QuestNet, which is set to commence on June 18. A user-friendly dashboard has been designed that will serve as the portal to key Chromia applications encompassing use cases such as digital collectibles, gaming, real-world assets, and sports. The dashboard will also provide connectivity to the Chromia Vault wallet. 100,000 CHR will be awarded to participants of QuestNet, which will run for an as yet undetermined period of time.

Chromia Software Put to the Test

Prior to QuestNet, two other programs will commence on June 11: HackNet and ProjectNet with a 100,000 CHR bounty. Designed for more tech-savvy users, these initiatives will provide an opportunity for users to test the capabilities of Chromia’s core software and identify areas for improvement. On June 28, HackNet will wrap up at the same time as an audit conducted by Trail of Bits is expected to be finalized. The Chromia team will then have an opportunity to study the feedback it has received from HackNet and the third-party audit and incorporate it into its mainnet development.

“We are excited to invite users to explore our innovative platform through this incentivized testing program,” explained Chromia Co-Founder Alex Mizrahi, adding: “Ahead of the mainnet release, this is an opportunity to showcase the robustness and reliability of our technology, while also giving our loyal community the chance to contribute to shaping the future of the Chromia ecosystem.”

Building Dapps With Rell

Chromia has been built using Rell, a programming language that’s optimized for the Layer 1’s blockchain architecture. As Chromia’s documentation explains, “Rell code gets compiled to an intermediate binary format, which is code for a specialized virtual machine. Chromia nodes then translate queries in this code into SQL and execute code as needed using an interpreter or compiler.”

Given that most web3 developers will have no prior experience of Rell, there’s a need to onboard them and encourage the development of dapps that are the lifeblood of every new blockchain ecosystem. This will be achieved through ProjectNet, which features a Demo Dapp Contest for devs interested in building on Chromia.

A 50,000 CHR prize pool has been set aside for ProjectNet and will be awarded to the top three teams who submit dapps. These can span any use case, and there’s even scope for coding dapps using Rell that were originally built using a different programming language. A six-panel team made up of core Chromia members has been tasked with judging the submissions.

The four-part testing program will raise anticipation for the launch of the Chromia mainnet, which is expected to occur later this year.
