Crypto.com Exchange is a cryptocurrency exchange platform with its head quarters in Hong Kong. It was launched by Crypto.com in 2019. It currently offers trading in over 200 different cryptocurrencies.

On the date of last updating this review (22 January 2023), Crypto.com had a 24 hour spot trading volume of USD 372 million according to Coinmarketcap.com. This placed it on place 39 in Coinmarketcap.com's list of the exchanges in the world with the highest 24 hour spot trading volume. On the same date, Binance is listed as having a USD 16.4 billion 24 hour spot trading volume.

On 28 October 2021, Crypto.com released a commercial which has been very talked about in general media. It was called Fortune Favors The Brave, and was a segment in which Matt Damon endorsed Crypto.com.

Crypto.com has spent hundreds of millions of dollars in marketing the last 2 years. In addition to the ad with Matt Damon, they are/were also:

  • Sponsors of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar;
  • Sponsors of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC);
  • Sponsors of the football club Paris Saint Germain; and
  • Sponsors of the F1-team Aston Martin Cognizant.

One can imagine that the domain crypto.com wasn't cheap to purchase... The domain was actually registered as early as 1993, by a cryptographer named Matt Blaze. He was working at AT&T with security for multiple computer systems. It is said that Matt early on expected that crypto would be a big part of the monetary system in the future.

In 2018, the domain was acquired by the company now running the Crypto.com Exchange (purchase price is not disclosed). The exchange itself was, as mentioned above, launched in 2019.

Most crypto traders feel that desktop give the best conditions for their trading. The computer has a bigger screen, and on bigger screens, more of the crucial information that most traders base their trading decisions on can be viewed at the same time. The trading chart will also be easier to display. However, not all crypto investors require desktops for their trading. Some prefer to do their crypto trading via their mobile phone. If you are one of those traders that likes to use their mobile phone for trading, you’ll be happy to learn that Crypto.com offers the Crypto.com App. You can download it to/from both the AppStore and Google Play:

Every trading platform has a trading view. The trading view is the part of the exchange’s website where you can see the price chart of a certain cryptocurrency and what its current price is. There are normally also buy and sell boxes, where you can place orders with respect to the relevant crypto, and, at most platforms, you will also be able to see the order history (i.e., previous transactions involving the relevant crypto). Everything in the same view on your desktop. There are of course also variations to what we have now described. This is the trading view at Crypto.com Exchange, obtained on 22 January 2023:

Crypto.com Exchange Trading View Updated

It is up to you – and only you – to decide if the above trading view is suitable to you. Finally, there are usually many different ways in which you can change the settings to tailor the trading view after your very own preferences.

Most crypto exchanges charge two different types of trading fees: taker fees and maker fees. The taker is the person who picks up an existing order from the order book. The maker, on the other hand, is the person who creates an order that is not immediately matched against an existing order on the order book. Makers are often rewarded for creating liquidity on the platform by a lower trading fee than takers. Exchanges that do not make a distinction between takers and makers charge what we call “flat fees”.

Crypto.com Exchange charges only 0.075% for both takers and makers. According to the largest and most recent empirical study on crypto exchange trading fees, the average spot trading taker fee is currently 0.2294% and the average spot trading maker fee is currently 0.1854%.

This means that Crypto.com's trading fees are very competitive! You can also pay even less per trade if you stake CRO, and/or reach a certain trading volume during the preceding 30-day period, as further detailed in the below trading fee discount table:

Crypto.com Exchange Trading Fee Discount Table

Crypto.com Exchange charges a withdrawal fee of 0.0005 BTC per BTC-withdrawal. This fee is quite in line with the global industry average. The current global industry average is around 0.0004599 BTC per BTC-withdrawal according to this empirical study so a competitive offering by Crypto.com Exchange in this respect as well.

Crypto.com Exchange Referral Program GIF

Crypto.com, like many other exchanges, has a referral program. You can sign up to it here.

The Syndicate is an interesting feature of the Crypto.com Exchange, it is the fundraising platform from Crypto.com that offers the opportunity for crypto projects to list their tokens on the Crypto.com Exchange. Crypto.com Coin (CRO) holders will then be able to participate in The Syndicate and receive priority token allocation for up to 50% discount sales if you stake at least 5,000 CRO on Crypto.com Exchange. Users who stake 10,000 or more CRO for 6 months can even enjoy 20% APR paid in daily. See more details on Staking in the below section named - unsurprisingly - Staking

Crypto.com Exchange The Syndicate

What is staking? Staking is when you are an active participant in validating transactions on a so called Proof of Stake-blockchain (PoS). In order to become a validator, you must "stake" a certain balance of the cryptocurrency that you are validating. In exchange for doing that, you receive compensation (staking rewards).

Crypto.com Exchange is also among the crypto exchanges out there that offer so called staking services. Where the most common procedure for staking is that you choose a crypto to stake and a time period (flexible or 180 days are two common options), the APY (Annual Percentage Yield) at Crypto.com has a few additional layers. The amount of crypto you would like to stake also affects your APY. Finally, the amount of Cronos (Crypto.com’s native token – CRO) that you have also staked at the time affects the APY too. So a lot of different ingredients to Crypto.com Exchange’s staking soup. Generally speaking, the APYs offered by Crypto.com are not that high compared to the other options out there.

Crypto.com Exchange lets you deposit assets to the exchange in many different ways, through wire transfer, debit card, and of course also by just depositing existing cryptocurrency assets.

Seeing as fiat currency deposits are possible at this trading platform, Crypto.com Exchange qualifies as an “entry-level exchange”, making an exchange where new crypto investors can start their journey into the exciting crypto world.

According to information that we have received from the exchange itself, US-investors are permitted to trade here.
