xBTCe Review
What is XBTCe?
xBTCe is a cryptocurrency exchange that previously had its home in China (prior to the ban). It has been active since 2015.
US-investors
Anyway, this exchange is not friendly to US-investors. They can’t even trade here at all. The reason for excluding US-investors are normally primarily regulatory reasons. Don’t be too sad though, there are many other venues that offer the type of trading this exchange does. Use our Exchange Finder to find out which alternatives you have.
Three Different Formats
xBTCe is available in three different formats: (i) Desktop Trader, (ii) Web Trader, and (iii) Mobile Trader. The exchange has prepared a quite helpful table showing the pros and cons of each format, as follows.
xBTCe Trading View
Different exchanges have different trading views. And there is no “this overview is the best”-view. You should yourself determine which trading view that suits you the best. What the views normally have in common is that they all show the order book or at least part of the order book, a price chart of the chosen cryptocurrency and order history. They normally also have buy and sell-boxes. Before you choose an exchange, try to have a look at the trading view so that you can ascertain that it feels right to you. The below is a picture of the trading view at xBTCe:
xBTCe Fees
xBTCe Trading fees
Every trade occurs between two parties: the maker, whose order exists on the order book prior to the trade, and the taker, who places the order that matches (or “takes”) the maker’s order.
xBTCe’s trading fees for takers are 0.25%. This fee is in line with industry average. xBTCe also offer a substantial fee discount to the makers at the exchange who can trade for only 0.15%. This is a competitive fee level.
xBTCe also offers trading fee discounts when you have a large trading volume during the preceding 30 days. Trading fees can become as low as 0.10% for takers and 0.00% for makers (i.e., free). That is if they have a trading volume exceeding USD 25 million (if we understand the below table correctly). So we doubt that there will be that many people that reach the highest level of trading fee discounts at xBTCe here. The exact trading fee discounts are set out in the below table:
xBTCe Withdrawal fees
This trading platform charges a withdrawal fee amounting to 0.003 BTC when you withdraw BTC. This is above average in the industry. One should consider whether xBTCe has a strong offering to investors in other respects that outweighs the disadvantage of this higher withdrawal fee.
Deposit Methods
xBTCe offers wire transfer as a deposit method, but you can’t deposit via credit card. This of course negative news to you if you would prefer to use your credit card for any reason. Maybe you want to collect those frequent flyer points or maybe you’re using your moms credit card. In any event, that won’t be possible here.
However, if you need to find an exchange accepting credit card deposits, you can easily find one by using our Exchange Finder!
