Gatehub is a cryptocurrency exchange from the United Kingdom. It launched in 2014.

On the date of last updating this review (16 July 2019), the following picture shows the trading volume of the different trading pairs possible to trade at the platform. We think it’s fair to say that there’s definitely some need for improvement of the exchange’s trading volume in order for it to compete with the industry leading exchanges.

This trading platform is not for people interested in the less established cryptocurrencies. If you want to sell or buy any smaller cryptocurrency, you’ll have to choose another trading platform that you can find by the help of the Exchange Finder.

It does not list US-investors as prohibited from trading, but US-investors should do their own independent assessment of any problems arising from their residency or citizenship. In a worst-case scenario, they may not be able to trade at one or several exchanges that could be the best cryptocurrency exchange site for them (maybe including this one).

Different exchanges have different trading views. And there is no “this overview is the best”-view. You should yourself determine which trading view that suits you the best. What the views normally have in common is that they all show the order book or at least part of the order book, a price chart of the chosen cryptocurrency and order history. They normally also have buy and sell-boxes. Before you choose an exchange, try to have a look at the trading view so that you can ascertain that it feels right to you. The below is a picture of the trading view at Gatehub:

Gatehub’s fees consist of deposit fees, trading fees and withdrawal fees.

Deposit fees vary dependent upon how you deposit.

Trading fees are 0.30% flat, meaning that takers and makers both pay 0.30% of the total order value of the trade as a fee to Gatehub.

Withdrawal fees are fixed at 0.005 BTC for BTC-withdrawals.

This UK coin exchange doesn’t charge different fees between takers and makers. Their fee model is instead something called a “flat fee model”. They offer a flat trading fee of 0.20%.

According to the largest and most recent empirical study on the subject of crypto exchange trading fees, this one, the global industry average taker fees are 0.221% and the global industry average maker fees are 0.178%. Compared to these averages, Gatehub is slightly below on taker fees but slightly above on maker fees.

Gatehub charges a withdrawal fee amounting to 0.001 BTC when you withdraw BTC. This fee is a bit above the global industry average. Global industry average BTC-withdrawal fee is according to the abovementioned report around 0.00053 BTC per BTC-withdrawal. So Gatehub is substantially above average on their charged withdrawal fees.

Gatehub offers wire transfer as a deposit method, but you can’t deposit via credit card. This of course negative news to you if you would prefer to use your credit card for any reason.
