This exchange is no longer operational. When visiting the LiteBit site, we found this statement:

"The Dutch crypto broker LiteBit announced in a press release in May 2023 that it intends to terminate its activities as a result of various market developments, increased competition and mounting regulatory pressure."

"LiteBit customers will be offered the option to easily transfer their digital assets to Bitvavo. The potential transfer from LiteBit customers to Bitvavo has already been submitted to the relevant authorities and will be assessed by the ACM in the near future. After this, customers will be actively informed and fully supported during the (possible) transfer process."

Given LiteBit customers are now using the Bitvavo platform, we thought it best we share our review of the exchange from our in-house expert traders.

LiteBit.eu is a crypto exchange from the Netherlands, with headquarters in the centre of Rotterdam. It has been active since 2013.

This exchange lists a few reason to why it should be your choice of trading platform. More specifically, six reasons. First off, it has a large number of supported cryptos. So whatever coin you’re looking for, chances are that you’ll find it here. Second, the exchange has a wide variety of payment methods. Their customer support function is open 24/7 and has received a very positive customer score. Fifth and sixth, the exchange comes with a wallet and is established in the Netherlands. We’re not sure exactly how office location is a benefit and most exchanges come with an integrated wallet. Nevertheless, the first four items are definitely helpful things for a crypto investor to have!

LiteBit.eu Advantages

US-investors may not trade on this exchange. So if you are a US-investor and want to trade here, you’ll have to reconsider your choice of trading venue and choose one of the other top crypto exchanges. Don’t be too sad though, there are many other venues that offer the type of trading this exchange does. Use our Exchange Finder to find out which alternatives you have.

Most people prefer to do their crypto trading via desktop. But there are also a lot of people doing it via their smart phones or reading tablets. If you are on of those people, you’ll be happy to know that the LiteBit trading platform is also available as a mobile app, for iPhones.

Different exchanges have different trading views. And there is no “this overview is the best”-view. You should yourself determine which trading view that suits you the best. What the views normally have in common is that they all show the order book or at least part of the order book, a price chart of the chosen crypto and order history. They normally also have buy and sell-boxes. Before you choose an exchange, try to have a look at the trading view so that you can see that it feels right to you. The below is a picture of the somewhat limited trading view at LiteBit.eu:

LiteBit.eu Purchase Interface

This Dutch cryptocurrency exchange is different from most other cryptocurrency exchanges in the way that it purchases altcoins and then sells them on to its customer for a higher price. Accordingly, it acts more like a change bureau or spot exchange than like a regular cryptocurrency exchange.

We have not been able to find any information on this exchange’s mark-up (i.e., its trading fees). Howewer, on the date of last updating this review (28 May 2020), the mark-up/mark-down charged by LiteBit.eu was 1.55%. This is quite acceptable for this type of service.

We have not been able to find LiteBit.eu’s withdrawal fees. We do not know whether the withdrawal fees are included in LiteBit.eu’s mark-up as described above or not. This is potentially a risk for you as an investor (if they are not informed of anywhere we believe there is a higher risk that they are high). Accordingly, we strongly urge you to make your own analysis of the withdrawal fees at LiteBit.eu before depositing any funds there (just as with the trading fees).

This trading venue offers wire transfer as a deposit method, but you can’t deposit via credit card.
