Brazilian Soccer giants Sao Paulo are now offering fans the opportunity to buy home match tickets with Bitcoin (BTC), Shiba Inu (SHIB), as well as other digital assets

Brazilian Soccer giants Sao Paulo are now offering fans the opportunity to buy home match tickets with Bitcoin (BTC), Shiba Inu (SHIB), as well as other digital assets. The move marks the first in the country, with over 34 million Brazilians holding crypto we may see many more teams following suit.

Sao Paul FC And Bitso

Sao Paulo has seen much success on the field, winning some 22 titles over the years, but now having inked a deal with long-standing Mexican cryptocurrency trading platform Bitso, they will hope to see off the field as well.

The deal with Bitso will see the company serve as the club’s sponsor for the next three years. As one of the most popular clubs in the country, the Mexican exchange will gain a lot of exposure. Moreover, for early-adopting Brazilians, the announcement of the sponsorship deal may be their first entry point to the digital currency space.

The initiative will see numerous cryptocurrencies offered to San Paulo fans. One lucky fan named Fabio Gloeden Brum, who happened to be the first fan to buy a ticket for a soccer match in crypto, was awarded a non-fungible token (NFT) commemorating the partnership with Bitso.

The initial offer is saved for registered fans with membership cards. However, all fans will be able to gain access to crypto payments for tickets.

Not The First Deal For Bitso

Earlier this year, the famous Mexican soccer team, Tigres, joined up with Bitso to offer crypto payments for tickets, as well as other entertainment events linked to the team. Continuing with that trend, Barcelona-based soccer team RCD Espanyol inked a deal with Bitso, making the exchange the club’s main sponsor, allowing fans to buy game tickets, merch, as well as food and beverages using various cryptocurrencies.

We’ve seen rapid growth in the number of public-facing companies, sports teams and organizations that have signed sponsorship deals with crypto-related companies. We expect to see many more deals like Bitso’s latest in the coming months.
