Ross Ulbricht, creator of the dark web marketplace Silk Road, faces a double life sentence plus 40 years without parole as former President Trump renews his commitment to clemency.

Ross Ulbricht, the founder of Silk Road, marked the beginning of his 12th year in prison on October 1st. The 40-year-old, communicating through his family-managed X account, stated, "Today marks the beginning of my 12th year in prison. I plan to make the most of my time and use it wisely."

In response, former President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, "I WILL SAVE ROSS ULBRICHT!" reaffirming his support for the imprisoned entrepreneur.

Ulbricht is currently serving a double life sentence plus 40 years without the possibility of parole for his role in creating and operating Silk Road, a notorious dark web marketplace.

Trump's Commitment to Clemency: A Ray of Hope for Ulbricht

This isn't Trump's first expression of support for Ulbricht. Earlier this year, at the Libertarian National Convention, he promised to commute Ulbricht's sentence on his first day in office if re-elected.

Ulbricht previously acknowledged Trump's pledge on X, expressing profound gratitude: "Last night, Donald Trump pledged to commute my sentence on day one if reelected. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. After 11 years in prison, it's hard to put into words how I feel right now."

Many, including billionaire venture capitalist Tim Draper, argue that Ulbricht's sentence is disproportionate to his charges and advocate for his release. Trump's evolving stance on cryptocurrency and his renewed commitment to Ulbricht's case offer a glimmer of hope for the Silk Road founder and his supporters.
