Coinbase to Launch a New Web App
Coinbase, one of the leading cryptocurrency exchanges in the world announced on Thursday that it would launch a new web app to ease access to its services. According to Coinbase, the app will provide users with a single platform for viewing and managing their entire crypto exposure, including tokens, NFTs, and DeFi positions.
Furthermore, users can connect multiple wallets to the new app. According to Coinbase executives, the new web app will serve as a one-stop destination to explore, manage, and engage with people, communities, and businesses on chain.
This latest development comes roughly a month after the launch of Coinbase smart wallet. Coinbase’s Senior Director of Product Management, Sid Coelho-Prabhu revealed that the new web app was launched thanks to the suggestions of its users.
Coelho-Prabhu told The Block that,
"We got feedback that users were like ‘I also want to manage assets. I want to have a place to go everyday to see what’s happening on chain and manage my on-chain portfolio.'"
The Coinbase exec added that one of the company’s primary objectives with this new app is to bring the crypto exchange’s roughly 100 million users "on chain."
"This is one big step in that direction. A user that we send to this portal is going to have a really easy way to set up a wallet, if they have multiple wallets they can configure that as well. They can do all of the basic on-chain financial activity they want whether it's buying or trading or anything like that. And they can see what else is going on, on chain," he added.
Coinbase is currently the third-largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, behind Binance and Bybit. The exchange currently processes roughly $2 billion in daily trading volume and is the leading crypto exchange in the United States.
