Crypto.com Obtains VASP License in Ireland

Cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com has received approval to register as a virtual asset service provider in Ireland. Thanks to this latest development, Crypto.com can now operate in the EU nation.

The Central Bank of Ireland’s website indicates that Crypto.com was listed on the register since June 7 under the name Foris DAX. The cryptocurrency exchange will now be able to offer crypto-to-fiat exchanges and fiat wallets to its users in Ireland.

This latest development also means that Crypto.com has joined other crypto giants like Coinbase, Ripple, and Gemini on the register. Cryptocurrency companies continue to work hard to obtain approval in EU nations ahead of December when the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) legislation becomes fully operational.

The EU’s regulation of the cryptocurrency industry allows companies with a crypto VASP license from any member state to operate across all 27 nations.

The approval in Ireland also comes after Crypto.com received similar licenses across the globe. The company’s Dubai entity received full operational approval from the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) six months ago. It has also received authorization in the U.K. as an electronic money institution while also maintaining similar licenses in the Netherlands and Spain.
