Deribit to Launch Bitcoin and Ether Options to Bet on US Election

Crypto derivatives exchange Deribit has announced the launch of bitcoin and ether options that will expire in early November. The options would allow investors to bet on how the U.S. election session will affect crypto markets. 

While announcing this in an X post, Deribit said, 

“Based on client demand, we have decided to introduce the 8 November 2024 options expiry ahead of the regular introduction timing. The early introduction is aimed at enabling our clients to position themselves effectively for the upcoming 5 November US elections, speculate, hedge, and more.”

The crypto exchange added that the trading products will go live on Thursday, July 18.

Deribit is currently one of the leading crypto derivatives trading platforms. The platform recorded over $2 billion in open interest across its perpetuals and futures markets in the past 24 hours. 

The upcoming US presidential is gathering momentum, with crypto investors keenly looking forward to the outcome. Republican candidate Donald Trump is the clear favorite amongst crypto investors thanks to his vocal support for the crypto market and his recent pick for the Vice President slot.
