World Liberty Financial (WLFI), the DeFi protocol linked to Donald Trump, has made another significant move in the crypto space, acquiring thousands of Ondo Finance (ONDO) and Etherna (ENA) tokens over the weekend. The protocol continued its expansion with strategic purchases, further cementing its growing presence in decentralized finance.
On December 15, WLFI’s multi-signature address swapped 250,000 USDC for 134,216 ONDO tokens, acquiring them at an average price of $1.86 each. The move has already yielded a $10,000 profit as the ONDO price appreciated. Earlier in the weekend, the protocol also added 509,955 ENA tokens, spending 500,000 USDC in the process at an average price of $0.98 per coin.
This latest round of acquisitions brings WLFI's total cryptocurrency stash to nearly $85 million, including Ethereum, Chainlink, Aave, ONDO, and ENA, alongside stablecoins and Coinbase Wrapped Bitcoin (cbBTC). The purchases are in line with WLFI's broader strategy to disrupt traditional finance by offering enhanced borrowing and lending services.
Despite an underwhelming start to its token sales—raising only $44.7 million out of its target $300 million—market analysts expect WLFI to continue its aggressive asset acquisitions in the coming months.
At the time of this writing, ONDO was trading at $ 1.86 and ENA was trading at $1.25.
