EigenLayer and Cartesi Invite Their Core Devs To Build New Use Cases for Mainstream Users

EigenLayer, the Ethereum restaking protocol, has partnered with Cartesi, a powerful modular blockchain protocol that supports builders with a full Linux environment and high-performance rollups, to invite their core developers to build transformative dApps capable of driving end-user adoption.

In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, the teams said builders, including traditional Web2 developers, will be able to leverage the combined strengths of Cartesi’s Linux-powered Coprocessor with EigenLayer’s groundbreaking restaking protocol.

Cartesi and EigenLayer are organizing an invite-only internal hackathon (Experiment Week #3) from February 10th to February 17th. The event will see protocol core developers get in the trenches to ideate and prototype consumer dApps and new use cases.

While commenting on the upcoming hackathon, Felipe Argento, Co-founder and Advisor at Cartesi, said

EigenLayer's restaking technology is revolutionizing how blockchain applications can leverage Ethereum's security and scale, while Cartesi's Coprocessor is the only virtual machine capable of running Linux in the blockchain space. Cartesi currently powers over a hundred projects.

The hackathon allows developers to experiment and address key industry concerns like data integrity, fairness, and verifiability, ultimately fostering a more reliable and ethical AI landscape. The limited computational capacity and high costs of current data availability and execution layers make it impossible or exceedingly expensive for applications to run AI on-chain. 

The Cartesi Coprocessor revolutionizes blockchain applications by equipping smart contracts with the software tools and complex computation that power web2. It is unique thanks to its integration of a Linux-compatible RISC-V virtual machine, providing developers with a familiar and versatile environment for executing computations. This compatibility bridges the gap between traditional software development and blockchain innovation, making it easier than ever before for developers to reuse existing software libraries and tools for web3 use cases.

Meanwhile, EigenLayer solves the bootstrapping problem for new web3 services by providing a “marketplace for trust.” Instead of requiring every web3 builder to independently raise capital, establish cryptoeconomic security, and onboard Operators, EigenLayer offers Cryptoeconomic Security as a Service by bringing together Restakers, Operators, and Actively Validated Services (AVSs).
