Fhenix has integrated Celestia as its data availability solution, providing access to reliable and decentralized data streams to help developers create powerful onchain applications with built-in privacy features.

Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) Layer 2 Fhenix announced on Thursday, September 12th, that it has integrated Celestia as its data availability solution.

In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, Fhenix said providing access to reliable and decentralized data streams will help developers create powerful onchain applications with built-in privacy features.

Fhenix explained that Celestia’s modular data availability network makes transaction data available for anyone to download. The network’s provision of high-throughput data that can be verified with a light node will make it easier for projects building on Fhenix to create scalable applications that execute smart contract logic based on an array of on- and off-chain data sources.

While commenting on this integration, Fhenix CEO and Co-Founder Guy Itzhaki said:

“Fhenix's goal is to bring FHE to the masses, and we are constantly working on innovative ways to do so. A key component of our strategy is to integrate a DA (data availability) solution that will enable us to reduce the cost of FHE computation. The addition of Celestia to the Fhenix stack means a flexible, scalable platform for confidentiality-enabled application developers.”

According to Fhenix, Celestia’s lightweight and modular design complements the architecture of its EVM-compatible network that efficiently supports confidential computation. This ensures that encrypted onchain data can be processed rapidly and at a low cost, allowing for the creation of responsive dapps that offer full end-to-end encryption.

Developers on the Fhenix network can also leverage the fhEVM to create decentralized applications built with Solidity. Thanks to its support for end-to-end encrypted smart contracts, Fhenix unlocks a wide range of use cases, from DeFi to gaming to confidential voting.

According to the team, the integration of Celestia will accelerate the development of novel applications on Fhenix. Its DA layer enhances the tooling available on Fhenix’s scalable L2, freeing projects to focus on core strengths and create blockchain solutions that bring confidentiality to the EVM landscape.

Fhenix is the first Ethereum Layer 2 to enable confidential smart contracts using Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), a novel cryptographic scheme that enables the computation of encrypted data. Fhenix is EVM-equivalent, enabling developers to write their smart contracts in Solidity using the developer tools they’re familiar with and selectively encrypt them using FHE.

Meanwhile, Celestia is a modular data availability (DA) network that securely scales with the number of users, making it easy for anyone to launch their own blockchain. Rollups and L2s use Celestia as a network for publishing and making transaction data available for anyone to download. By making the blockchain stack modular, Celestia enables anyone to launch their own blockchain without needing a validator set.
