HBAR Foundation, the development team behind the Hedera blockchain, announced via a blog post on Monday that it partnered with Xeptagon to integrate the DPG National Carbon Registry (NCR) with the Hedera Guardian. The DPG National Carbon Registry is an open-source project initiated by UNDP.
Through this, any country, government, or organization that decides to use the registry can digitize and tokenize their carbon markets on Hedera. The UNDP's DPG National Carbon Registry is designed to help countries manage data and processes related to trading carbon credits. National registries are essential for tracking carbon projects, verifying data, and preventing greenwashing.
The NCR will also inherit the capabilities enabled by the Hedera Guardian ecosystem, including project data comparison, granular data attribution, and top-down labels for improved quality indicators for projects.
Hedera Hashgraph is a distributed public ledger infrastructure. According to the team, it offers significant improvements over existing blockchains in five areas: performance, security, governance, stability, and regulatory compliance. HBAR is trading at $0.18667 at press time, down 4% over the last 24 hours.
