On Tuesday, the IOTA team announced via X that the alpha release of #IOTA Identity is here. IOTA Identity is a decentralized identity framework for secure digital interactions. It follows global W3C standards with Decentralized Identifiers DID & Verifiable Credentials, giving users complete control over their identity.
By combining W3C standards with the highly scalable, deterministic, and secure IOTA MoveVM, it provides a framework for authentication, verification, and secure data exchange.
IOTA Identity ensures data integrity on an immutable ledger while keeping verifiable credentials (VCs) off-chain for privacy and user control. Cryptographic verification ensures authenticity, while standardized formats enable seamless interoperability.
IOTA is a permissionless distributed ledger "for a new economy." IOTA aims to support the growth of a machine economy by enabling "fee-less machine-to-machine payments," offering greater scalability than blockchain networks. IOTA is trading at $0.1855, up 3% in the last 24 hours.
