Disney to Enter the NFT Space
Media company Disney has become the latest entity to enter the nonfungible token space. The company announced yesterday that it had launched its first official nonfungible tokens, and it includes Iron Man and Elsa.
Disney has produced rare and limited products in the past. However, the announcements of the NFTs mark the first it has ventured into the crypto space. The collection is called "Golden Moments" and will include some of the most beloved characters and stories from iconic Disney franchises.
The Golden Moment collection includes characters from Disney's Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and The Simpsons, which were launched earlier this week. According to the company, the sale will end with an "ultra-rare digital collectible" to be released on Friday.
Disney's collection will be available on the NFT marketplace VeVe, an app-based platform for digital collectibles. According to VeVe, buyers will also have the option to purchase "blind boxes." By so doing, buyers will only know the collectible they have received after a successful purchase.
Disney has made The Simpsons' Homer and Bart and Frozen's Elsa also available as part of the Golden Moments collection. Later this week, Disney will release the NFTs of Iron Man, the Avengers symbol, R2-D2 and C-3PO alongside that founder Walt Disney holding the hand of Micky Mouse.
NFTs have become very popular in the cryptocurrency space and beyond. They have gained massive adoption, especially in the media and sporting industries. The growth of the sector has intrigued many people wondering what the NFT trading volume is at the moment. In the previous quarter, the NFT trading volume topped the $10 billion mark for the first time in history.
With the increase in popularity of NFTs, several exchanges, including Binance and Coinbase, have entered the NFT space. Some of the leading NFT marketplaces in the world include OpenSea, Rarity, FTX NFT, VeVe and Binance NFT.
