Keplr Adds EVM Support
Keplr, a leading wallet app on the Cosmos blockchain ecosystem, has added support for Ethereum and its Layer 2 blockchains. This latest development will help Keplr become one of the leading multi-layer wallet solutions in the Web3 space.
It is currently the leading wallet app on Cosmos, recording over a million. The EVM support on the app allows users to view and manage Ethereum-based assets directly within the wallet app.
Co-founder Josh Lee pointed out that the EVM integration will help attract a broader user base, especially those active across Cosmos and EVM-focused chains. Furthermore, Keplr seeks to support emerging modular projects that utilize both ecosystems.
While speaking with The Block, Lee added that,
“A big percentage of Kepler users are now both using Kepler and an EVM wallet, and we’re trying to serve them as the kind of up-and-coming modular community.”
Lee also revealed the technical aspects of adding EVM support to Kepler, including the use of EIP-6963 for multi-injected providers. The move will enable Keplr to be used simultaneously without disrupting usage patterns across wallets or prompting users to switch back and forth between wallets.
He added that the EVM support is designed to serve existing Kepler users who also use EVM wallets as they focus on building a cross-chain, multi-chain wallet.
