Consensys, the blockchain technology company, has launched the Linea Association, a new Swiss non-profit organization, to support the growth, development, and governance of Linea's technology.
The Linea Association is an independent entity that will support the Linea community network, a zkEVM Layer-2 protocol designed by Consensys to scale Ethereum while preserving its core principles of security and decentralization.
"Decentralization is at the core of Linea's vision. Linea must be owned and governed openly by all as a public good, just as Layer 1 Ethereum is," said Nicolas Liochon, founder of Linea and a board member of the Linea Association.
The association is committed to governance decentralization and plans to hold a token generation event in the first quarter of 2025. The LINEA token will allow holders to participate in decision-making and distribute power over protocol governance.
The Linea Association envisions a growing ecosystem of Ethereum technologists, builders, and users dedicated to furthering a decentralized, on-chain future.
