Mergers & acquisitions in the crypto space grew by 131% in 2021

Mergers and acquisitions in the cryptocurrency space grew to $6.1 billion in 2021, a 131% increase from last year.

The Block Research's 2022 Digital Asset Outlook report, revealed that mergers and acquisitions within the cryptocurrency space went up by 131% in 2021. Per the report, M&A volume rose to $6.1 billion in 2021, driven by crypto-native, finance, and technology companies.

In general, a total of 197 M&A deals were closed so far this year, surpassing the 85 transactions recorded in 2020. The surge in M&A deals was primarily due to crypto companies acquiring rival entities to expand their services and traditional financial institutions entering the cryptocurrency space.
