Research reveals that almost a fifth of Britons own cryptocurrency

Research carried out by Gemini, the cryptocurrency trading venue, has found that nearly a fifth of Britons now own cryptocurrency. Based on a survey of 2,300 people, some 18% of people claimed to have investments in cryptocurrency, nearly half invested for the first time last year.

According to research carried out by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in 2021, between 3.9% and 4.4% of Brits owned a crypto asset. The data shows a significant increase in ownership in the last 12 months, with Gemini’s head of UK operations Blair Halliday stating that “2021 was transformational for UK cryptocurrency ownership. Confidence in and awareness of crypto has increased dramatically.”
