Solana network’s first chain extension, Sonic, has announced its Token Generation Event and mainnet launch dates as it onboards more users to its ecosystem.

Solana’s First Chain Extension Sonic Announces TGE and Mainnet Launch

Sonic, the first chain extension on Solana, has officially announced its Token Generation Event (TGE) and mainnet launch dates. In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, the team said listings will accompany the release of its native $SONIC token on several tier-one exchanges and simultaneous DEX listings.

$SONIC’s TGE was on January 7, 2024 (noon UTC), marking the next phase of the network’s evolution. The token will debut on leading exchanges, including OKX, Bybit, Bitget, KuCoin, Gate, and MEXC, and will also go live on the Solana mainnet as an SPL token. Notable Solana-based DEXes such as Raydium, Meteora, and Drift will support the token at launch.

The team previously revealed that it would award an airdrop to all TikTok users onboarded to its network, designed to serve as an app layer for the popular social media platform. This will support Sonic’s goal of combining web2 and web3 features to create a layer capable of accelerating blockchain mass adoption.

With the $SONIC TGE now finalized, Sonic will proceed with finalizing its mainnet launch, scheduled for February 10, 2024 (noon UTC). The mainnet launch will transform its web3 layer from testnet into mainnet and unlock a host of powerful features to enhance functionality and utility across its ecosystem.

Furthermore, bridge activation will enable users to transfer SonicSOL to Sonic seamlessly. This process will reward Solayer delegators with airdrop incentives, creating additional value for early supporters and participants. Another significant milestone is the launch of Sega DEX, a decentralized exchange designed to provide robust trading and liquidity solutions within the Sonic ecosystem. This will facilitate smoother transactions and empower users with various financial tools.

The mainnet launch will help expand the Sonic ecosystem via strategic integrations with prominent Solana-based projects, including Metaplex and Pyth. These partnerships will strengthen the network’s capabilities and broaden its utility for hosting diverse decentralized applications.

Regarding infrastructure, Sonic will roll out its native RPC, Sorada, alongside integration with Helius RPC. These developments will optimize network interactions, ensuring data reliability and scalability for users and developers alike.

The team concluded that the onboarding of HSSN operators, supported by institutional partners, will play a pivotal role in scaling the network and fortifying its infrastructure. Together, these features will deliver a seamless user experience, solidifying Sonic as a leader in consumer-ready blockchain.

The $SONIC token launch is set to increase awareness of Sonic’s impending launch and help onboard more users to the ecosystem. Sonic is well positioned to deploy its mainnet and realize its goal of mainstreaming access to web3 services.
