Sonic Labs Unveils SonicCS 2.0

On Friday, Sonic Labs (formerly Fantom Foundation) announced via X that it has introduced SonicCS 2.0, a new consensus protocol capable of achieving 2x faster consensus and 68% memory reduction.

The protocol is a DAG-based consensus protocol that overlaps elections and hence reduces space and computation effort. Sonic Labs added that its preliminary experiments on 200 epochs in the Sonic mainnet have shown a 2x speedup (on average) and memory reductions of 68%. The team aims to include SonicCS 2.0 in one of the Sonic client’s next releases.

Sonic (previously Fantom) is building a programmable platform on a directed acyclic-graph-based distributed ledger. Its S coin is down 1% in the last 24 hours and is currently trading at $0.4926.
