Web3 gaming platform Unioverse has appointed Star Citizen co-founder Eric Peterson as its Chief Creative Officer to help mainstream web3 gaming and onboard video game players.

Web3 game creation platform Unioverse announced on Thursday, July 18th, that it has appointed Eric Peterson as Chief Creative Officer.

In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, the team said Peterson, who is the co-founder of Star Citizen, will play a pivotal role in Unioverse’s efforts to mainstream web3 gaming and onboard video game players.

Eric Peterson joins Random Games, developer of the Unioverse platform, and will lead the company’s creative efforts and spearhead game development. The new CCO  previously worked at Origin Systems with Chris Roberts on the Wing Commander franchise. He also co-founded Digital Anvil where he negotiated key financial deals and produced and designed StarLancer and Conquest: Frontier Wars.

Peterson also launched Fever Pitch Studios and held the titles of Founder and President of Production while working with Chris Roberts on Star Citizen.

While commenting on his appointment, Eric Peterson said:

“I am very excited to be joining Random Games and Unioverse and to be devoting my creative energies to developing great games in the rich Unioverse environment. We’re focused on addressing gamer frustrations by supporting actions that other companies punish, such as trading high-level characters or weapons. This is solved with our marketplace of game items, allowing players to trade items freely and derive more value from the games they love.”

At Unioverse, Peterson is tasked with identifying external partners for Unioverse’s Metaverse. He will also play a crucial role in ensuring that games released under the Random Games imprint are of the highest quality. His responsibilities would help make the Unioverse platform a major hub for web3 gaming while maximizing the incentives for web2 gamers to onboard.

Peterson will work closely with CTO Wyeth Ridgway, Head of Brand Bryan Clark, and CEO Tony Harman to help Unioverse achieve its lofty goals.

Unioverse is a groundbreaking sci-fi franchise and game creation platform. Powered by a thriving secondary market for trading in-game items, Unioverse solves player problems while providing a foundation for developers to create AAA-quality games. Through development grants and a focus on player experience, Unioverse is on a mission to mainstream web3 gaming.
