The United States Department of Justice wants to retrieve $150 million embezzled from Sony and converted to bitcoins.

The United States Department of Justice has filed a civil forfeiture complaint to retrieve $150 million embezzled and converted to bitcoin. The funds were allegedly stolen from a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Sony Group Corporation and then seized by law enforcement during the FBI’s investigation of the theft.

An employee of Sony allegedly stole the funds earlier this year and converted them to over 3,800 bitcoins. The United States DOJ is now seeking to recover the stolen funds that were converted to bitcoins.

BTC is up by 5% so far today and is currently trading above $48k per coin.
