XDEFI Rebrands to Become Ctrl to Transform Web3 Self-Custody and Onboarding

Web3 wallet XDEFI announced on Wednesday, July 17th, that it has rebranded to become Ctrl, a new non-custodial wallet to simplify onboarding and enhance user experience.

In a press release shared with Cryptowisser, XDEFI said Ctrl will make it easier for millions of users to enter web3 and begin their on-chain journey. The team will release its next-generation Ctrl wallet.

The team revealed that currently, more than 90% of crypto users are not on-chain. However, Ctrl will transform the user experience offered by non-custodial wallets, empowering crypto holders to explore DeFi and web3 opportunities.

While commenting on this rebrand, XDEFI CEO Emile Dubié said: 

“I believe self-custody is a fundamental right, and as a wallet provider, our responsibility is to make it accessible and secure for everyone. People should be able to have full sovereignty over their financial assets without the hurdles associated with traditional crypto wallets.

As of today, we are the wallet with the most chain coverage. We have spent more than a year building a user experience on top of this technical advantage to make our products as intuitive as apps like Revolut. Ctrl is set to be the premier tool for onboarding millions of new users, regardless of their knowledge about crypto.”

The Ctrl wallet comes with web2 features to overcome existing web3 pain points. The wallet provides frictionless onboarding and enhanced user experience by eliminating the need to pay for gas on every chain. It also offers support for more blockchains than any other web3 wallet, with 1,800 networks integrated into the Ctrl wallet.

The wallet leverages social login, ensuring that users don’t stress over seed phrase storage. With Ctrl, users will have an easier and more secure method of interacting on-chain and taking advantage of economic opportunities on thousands of blockchains. It will also simplify multiple wallet management and eliminate the need for gas tokens.

The team revealed that the Ctrl wallet will launch in beta in August, with early adopters set to enjoy its wide range of features. The public can sign up on the waiting list for mobile beta at Ctrl.xyz. 

However, existing XDEFI wallet users as well as new users who installed XDEFI will see their wallets automatically upgraded to Ctrl when it launches. Furthermore, the $XDEFI token will be converted to $CTRL on a 1:1 basis.
